In Greece the oldest state scholarship foundation is IKY founded in 1951.

> The Ministry of Education and Lifelong Learning has a page dedicated to scholarships and bequests from state and private bodies.
> The Ministry of Finance manages over 100 bequests. The scholarships are divided into two main categories, for Greece or abroad, and are further divided according to the field of study.
> The Academy of Athens awards scholarships for undergraduate, postgraduate or other specialized studies, from the revenues of bequests that it manages.
> The SOCRATES/ERASMUS @ National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, is the EC programme which promotes the cooperation between European higher education Institutes through a broad range of activities such as students and teachers exchanges, joint development of curricula, thematic network projects etc.

> Since 1978, the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation has been awarding scholarships to Greek graduates of Institutes of Higher Education for doctoral and postgraduate studies abroad.
In 1995 the Foundation established an annual programme of grants and scholarships for research, study and artistic endeavour within Greece. The programme is intended exclusively for non-Greeks: members of national academies, university professors at all levels holding a doctorate, post-doctorate researchers, post-graduate students and doctoral candidates, artists, and teachers, in both primary and secondary education, of Greek language, literature, history and culture.
